Hi ,does anybody know if there are different types of exhaust manifold fitted to the e34 535i ? i have an old f reg car which i am using as a donor for the gearbox and loom but the manifold does not look like the type i have seen on other conversions .

sorry dont own a camera ! it may just be coz i cant see any options on the etk , it looks almost in two parts with a two bolt flange where it joins the front pipe and has two long springs behind the nuts which are about 12 or 13 mm spanner size but so rusty you cant get a socket to grip them !!!

The later M30 has two manifolds like you say, the earlier M30's have a one(ish) peice manifold like this.

didn't the early 535i ones have a flexi joint or something Andy?

remember u saying u had one of yours replaced and the replacement was a bit different?

or maybe my memory's going!

anyway e34 ones should look something like these

Yeah, on early E34's one of the manifolds had a flexi joint built into it but that part has been superceded now by BMW so i'd guess it would be very rare to find one of those manifolds now ?

i should have asked ,what do you guys run and is one easier for the conversion than the other ? bearing in mind i have an e36 rack so very little space in that area .

I'm using the later two peice manifold with a later down pipe which is cut to size.

I haven't got an E36 rack so i don't know which will be best for you ?
