Guy's my 320 seems throw huge amounts of condensation outof the exhaust when cold, I've seen other e30s with similar grief (maily sat behind them in traffic)

My mechanic says nothing to worry aboutbut surely this can't be right.

Does anyone know of a solution?>

I have heard it is a trait of german cars with bosch or JE feul injection. you will also notice the older mercs do it. keep an eye on water and dont worry bout it!

tommo, if it's using coolant then you need to investigate, but if the coolant level isn't going down at all then forget about it!

You'll find all 6 cylinder E30's are quite steamy until they are up to full operating temp.

It's really nothing to concern yourself with unless it's excessive which would mean you have coolant leaking into the cylinders.

Ok, I've had it checked out, its doing it when up to operating temp too but its not using coolant to any degree and only does it at standstill, a bit of throttle and it seems to die off. Garage have checked and aasured me its not the head gasket, any other ideas?

Just been to a specialist, he recommended puttin a tiny 2mm hole in the exhaust where the water collects, apparently because of the fact the suck in so much when the engine is turned of and it collects and thats what causes it... he reckons this prolong the life of my box and stop it rusting through too!!!

Well I certainly wouldn't go putting holes in your exhaust especially if you want it to pass any future MOT's.

As everyone says, it's normal, you won't stop it from doing it, there's nothing wrong. Nothing to worry about.
