Ok, Re: my sisters car again, the replacing cylinder head idea didnt work, it has blown the gasket again, so now need a new engine.. found one at last but its in WOrkington cumbria CA14 4RG and my sisters car is in Barmouth north wales. but would want it delivered to LL402TA (dolgellau north wales)

Which courier, logistics company, man with van, do you guys use? What would be a rough guess on price?

I reckon it would be cheaper to hire a van and collect yourself, you would be looking at between Ԛ£60-Ԛ£75 + VAT to have it delivered.

You could try PM'ing Jonb he is the king of mail order and might be able to point you in the right direction

I had a quote only 4 days ago, Ԛ£53 inc VAT to take anything up to 1 tonne on a pallet nearly 200 miles
It would of cost that in fuel alone!

cheers for the reply, who was the Ԛ£53 quote from?

I would hire a van.. but I have to work and on my day off I have my baby son to look after, I doubt he would be impressed at about 12 hours in the car! (3 hours from grasmere to scrappy and back, and 9 hours minimum from here to home and back)

You need to find a firm local to where the engine is coming from, I rang Palletways and asked them to recomend someone close. (a firm that work for Palletways). It would be cheaper to use Palletways direct, but you need to have an account setup which would probably mean admin fee's and the usual bullshit
