The accelerator pedal is officially unreuseable if it's removed, but in practice, if you can twist it out undanaged, then it can be reused

Just cut the carpet you woose! :D
It's about 3 inches to cut toward's the bulk head! You can't even see it
You don't want Brian to be right about your throttle mate, might need a throttle to go along :D

Nah, you can still drive it OK with all the plastic pedal off the car. Frequently do if the carpets out of a car for leak checking.

depends which pedal you have. I went looking for when mine busted ( tryied to maneauver the carpet around the pedal, and Yoink! tore the flexi plastic bit off it! You can get to it with a smaill flat blade screwdriver, push in near the edges, you feel a row of one or two holes. Push the driver thru these holes and wiggle the pedal. IT SHOULD come off.. if you have the female style of pedal. If you have the male style.. I got no idea!

Cut around that piece with a Stanley knife - standard practice.
Don't cut the wires under the carpet!

Hi M8 in regards to the carpet being hard to remove, the problem being is the brake actuator rod runs from one side of the car to the other from the pedal box to the mechanisim for the master cylinder on the passengers side to get the carpet out/back in you have to remove this rod there are three clips to remove 2 on the drivers side which disconnect the brake pedal and one on the passengers side then this is the tricky part , unscrew the rod from the drivers side and pull it towards the passengers side this makes it so much easier to remove and refit the carpet correctly as it is a bitch to fit back under the heater box with this still in place, make sure you mark the postion of the actuator rod locking bolt on the drivers side to ensure correct adjustment when refitting.
The throttle pedal is an easy one there is a circlip at the top of the pedal remove this and pull the pedal towards the door thus removing it from the linkage this will then enable you to slide the carpetr towards the rear of the car for removal
Hope this helps you out M8 as I have just had mine out to weld the sills and back arches on mine

A small screwdriver will prise off the circlip and you pull the pedal to the left off the pedal mount thus letting you pull up the carpet[/quote]
