I believe you can fit the plastic bumpers, it shouldnt be too hard to put then on, then the mtech2 will fit in. Im not 100% sure tho so others might have more info

the rear bumper mounts are totaly different the are early type brakets though for an Mtec2 rear bumper because motorsport cabs have mtec2 kits on pre facelift cars

The rear arch prifile is different on the pre-face lift (metal bumber) cars so the m-tech 2 rear valance would be difficult to fit without some modifications, as pointed out earlier the brackets are also different. go for an Mtech1 rear valance to make life easier. I personally think the Mtech 1 kit looks better anyway but i prefer the old school look, keep it Mtech 1

Hi
This is the big question isnt it and one ive been looking into for sometime. After lots of conflicting information as to whether the Mtec II kit will fit on my 87 Cab (chrome bumper model) I have finally taken what i think is correct information.
This is what my local BMW repairer and New & used parts people said.
An original Mtec II Kit will only fit with considerable modification. Not only would brackets need to be changed but because the front and rear valance are different on later models the these would need changing too. Not finished there....... to enable the valances to fit some mechanics need changing ie: front suspension.............. and the list goes on.
I have ended up opting for a copy Kit - not the option i wanted but better than spending Ԛ£400 on a secondhand original kit only to find i would need to spend another Ԛ£500 replacing parts.
My answer to your query is therefore, sell the car and buy a later model with the kit already on and sprayed. This is where Ill be goin next.
Good Luck Mike
