I've seen on early cars the pedal box itself seems to blank the hole off on the autos, its wider/longer
Later autos AFAIK have the hole in place but its blanked with a blind grommet, either way its easy enough to swop from auto to manual and vs versa.
not sure I've answered your post though

Im pretty sure this is the hole that the master cyl goes thru.. needs to be cut tho!! Not sure how to cut it to the right shape so the grommet will fit..

its only spot welded in place like the thru load hatch in the saloons, give it a tap wid a cold chisel and it should pop out in the correct shape and place M8
the bodies are all the same pressing, just some holes are not fully punched to allow for production variances.

I converted my car from auto to manual.
If you look at the pedal box it is made up of a rail that has the pedal slotted on and a bolt on the end.
Simply take a look at a manual pedal box compared to your auto.
If I can remember correctly, you slide off the auto brake pedal and slide the manual brake & clutch pedals on.
The hole in the bulkhead for the master cylinder should already be there (rubber bung). Bolt the reservior onto a bracket on the suspension turrett.
On the manual car you take the pedals out of you will need to get the pipe that goes across the bulkhead . This pipe goes to a union that is on a bracket on the bulkhead.
From this union/bracket a rubber pipe/flexi hose runs to the slave cylinder, its best you get a new one from the dealer (can't remember the price.
That should be about it. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
