wow seems like you guys on the other side of the pond have many more choices. In New York the highest octane i can find is 93 if i could find 95 i bet it would run much smoother.

1987 2.7l e30 m20b27 supercharging
1991 3.5l e30 m30b35 it is dead so sad
1985 3.5l e23 m30b35
The usually saying is that where ever the fuel is purchised more from the fresher it is.Kramer wrote:Isn't BP 97?player6 wrote:i have to run my car on 98 super unleaded i nomaly use BP
If youre buying 95 then it shouldn't matter where you buy it. All the petrol stations in the same area will probably get their petrol from the same refinery.
I used normal 95 octane from Tesco's and it was crap!
I used 95 from BP and it was better.
I used 95 from Shell and it was alot better.
I used Shell Optimax and i've never gone back since
I also tried 99 octane from Tesco's and it run like it had 95 from BP
These are all from the same area, within a couple of mile's from each other.
I also noticed, on Optimax, my injector's are alot quieter. That's not by coinsidence as i have tried and tested several time's!
TBH these test's are no good to man or beast as the car has to go through a tank of juice to tell the difference between each company.

I use whatevers cheapest, tried em all and couldn't tell any difference, I dont think our cars can take advantage of the higher octane.
The s14 evoII engine is the only one that needs 98 AFAIK
