I'm wondering when is "allowed" to put the ///M badge on front grill and rear on trunk, It's depending on equipment right, but what:
M st. wheel and M shitfing knob
M suspension
M-Tech bodykit
or all
I'm talking about non-M3 models
I see a lots of cars with M badges witch only has M st. wheel and knob is this ok, i know people put anything on cars but what is an "unwritten rule"

i think 318IS's should be allowed, considering the suspension, braking, interior.
dont u agree? though an m tech badge along with the 318 looks silly... remove the 318is basge,, and just leave it with the lucrative M i think
think im gonna do this.. M on the left hand side of the boot, no 318is on the right. looks neater imo

I think you can get away with an M badge on a 318iS or 325i Sport, but some people believe an M badge should be reserved for M cars only, M3, M5, etc.
Putting them on a standard 316i or 318i doesn't look right. Saw an E46 saloon where the owner had 'M3' badge on the back. The idiot obviously didn't understand the difference between what he was driving and an E46 M3.

If it rolls out of the factory with one on without you having to ask the dealer to stick one on then its alright, so 325i sports that came badged with them are allowed and obviously any M cars....

I think they should be for M Powered cars, and cars that have the M-Tech spec. You can get away with it on an IS.

i dont mind see them on sports/motorsport cabrios/IS's but a 316 m badged up is wrong, however if you wana ad one a a little touch and you car is worthy of one why not (ie you've got a powerfull engie swop
) and you want to attract attention to get a race, not that i ever race on the queens high ways!!

My Is has not got 318is badges but has M badges front and rear. It has from factory:
Mtec2 bodykit
mtec suspension
mtec steering wheels
mtec gearnob
Think the badges were stuck on in the factory too maybe.

Nope, not yet. I contacted them and they said they could either refund my money or I could wait. So im still waiting. Iv waited long enough so I might aswel keep waiting. Apparantely the adapter for the 318is is hard to come by or something and no one has stock of them. I really want one and it will be the same wherever i order so im still waiting.....patiently.

This has been said so many times before, but I think people are getting confused between an M3 and an Mtech car, or at least the badges.maxfield wrote:I agree with ben only M3s and M5s etc should have an Mbadge not 318is or anything
Not the best pic of an Mtech badge, but fine on any Mtech cars.

This one is for the M3s only...

Got one on the grill of my sport as it has more than enough m tech bits that are standard on the car anyway, i dont care if its right or wrong though, it's there car let them get on with it.
However, that rule doesnt apply to a VW going around Cardiff that has more mesh than a chicken farm, 6 exhausts and the use of an M badge upside down with a v infront to make VW///

I think a lot of people get confused with M-Technik and M-Power.
M-Technik is usually on the styling side of things. Tech1, Tech2 and Motorsport Cabs.
These are the only ones that having the vin number will allow you to order from a main dealer.
M-Power is usually the m-cars (M3, M5 etc etc) - also need vin to get these badges but is usually followed by a 3 or 5 etc depending on car.

hehe, thanks. Lol. We will see. Mine is factory like that though.
I think your wise putting a tec 2 kit on though. Looks great on a diamond black one.
M badges are a nice touch. Deserves them too i think.

hammoj28 - very nice motor. The badge looks nice too - I just don't like it when people add the 3 to it when it isn't.

Nice motor mate but the only reason it look's right is because of the MTech 11 kit. If it was standard then it just look's like a fake and you might aswell be a chav
It's upto the owner in my opinion because the the question intended obviously does'nt mean he is gonna stick an M3 badge on a 316i.

as mentioned above , the m-technic badge was originally on the 325is, i dont see any reason why people cant put an m-tec badge on there bmw, provideing they have genuine m-tec bits fitted i,e bodykit. i have some schnitzer pedals so does that mean i can put a badge on my grille? and as for the m-power badges not ///M iv been seeing lately on bmw's, people must be getting these badges from egay, they look shit, bmw never made badges with m-power written on them, i want to find the twat responsible for makeing these and knock the liveing f@@@ out of him.

I can understand why people with true m cars dont like to see the brand "devalued" but i cant see whats wrong with a plain M badging on an mtec equiped car
If anyone has devalued the brand, its BMW themselves, there chucking M badging on everything nowadays
