I'd like some information off someone about re-registering my car as a different model. Long story but I want an IS and cant find one in my budget so I want to make one but my nsurance are being irritating and say I cant put a bigger engine in so if I was to re-register as an IS they can insure it. and it wont cost me a penny more than my 316i
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

so are you puting the bigger engine in? if you are i cant see how your insurance wont go up.if you reregister it wont that give it a new number plate...possibly a "Q" .can you reregister a car for no real reason other than puting a bigger engine in .at the end of the day its still the same car with the same chassis number?

318iS is one group higher than a 316 in my list, so is going to cost you more. If the insurance co.s knew just how much faster an iS is over a 316, than it would be a lot more.
There's a few more differences than in the engine department as well.
Short answer is change your insurance co. to one who is more in tune with modded cars, or look at classic car insurance.

I'm too young for classic insurance and flux dont like me.
I have had a quote off elephant that comes back exactly the same wether it's my 316i or my mates IS. I understand that an IS has a Rear ARB and m-tech suspention and various other parts my car does/doesnt have atm.

Classic Insurance is based on the age and milage of the car, not the driver.Bob_S wrote:I'm too young for classic insurance

Perhaps there's one or two companies that'll insure under-21s but all the classic insurance companies I've looked at say over-21s onlym3ben05 wrote:You have to be over 21 for classic insuance as far as im aware
