As with any E30 owner, once in a while you have to visit the local scrappy. And today I popped to the scrappy with Player6 (Scott) and bought all the following:
- Interior mirror - the nice one with map lights and wiring harness.
- Tweeter pods - fit on the inside of the wing mirrors.
- 2 Headrests with fixings.
- Outside door trim.
- 4 Outside door handles.
- Bonnet seal.
and a couple of other bits I think
All for Ԛ£15!!!!!
Now thats a bargain!!!

HeHeHe!
That particular scrappy has about 12-15 E30's, about 6 E34's, 4 E36's, a really old shark nose 7 series, 1 E28, an E32/E34 with a V8 and what I think is an E32 7 series 3.0/3.5 with a manual gearbox!
And its only 10 minutes down the road from me.

Advise:
of you rip out a full OBC, when you go to pay for it all, say "just a clock mate" to the guy. (hell what does he know about E30's)

hahahaha I did the very same thing on sunday at my scrappy. Was trying to find a central locking system for my cab. They had a couple on a five door but the only three door there wasn't central locking
Was sat in this minter 318 which had the steering wheel off, pilfering the indicator stalk (mine doen't auto off and sometimes doesn't switch on too well) when I looked next to me on the seat and there it was!!
Yet to clean mine up tho. Got home, looked on ebay and found 2, one for Ԛ£70 and one for Ԛ£50!!!
The guy wanted Ԛ£20 bar for it so I told him I was putting it back. As I left I asked out of interest if he'd take a tenner for it and he said yes!!!
If anyone knows any good scrappies near Yeovil, Somerset, I'd be greatful. Not visited Lydford but have visted Angel for what it's worth!

hmmm I didnt think scrappies were meant to let you take your own bits off? health and safety and all that? (and the fact people must nick a fair few bits)
only one scrappy near me (penrith) and they never have e30's

blatant,
You could try a few around westbury/trowbridge. West Wilts trading estate has a HUGE scrappy, but it's never open when I go there!

im visiting one this saturday down in bodmin (cornwall)dobbie82 wrote:hmmm I didnt think scrappies were meant to let you take your own bits off? health and safety and all that? (and the fact people must nick a fair few bits)

its called cumbellacks - its fooking massive with thousands of cars.
they have a massive section of cars that need to be sorted yet, a massive section that have just been damaged and you can only buy the whole car and then the bit where you can go round and take bits off to take into the office.
good thing is the bit where the cars yet to be dismantled is on the way to the office so you just climb through the 2 wire fence and walk around and take what you want.
naughty i know but scrappys down here have ripped me off big time.
my mate went last saturday and took loads of bits for like e36 like tools from the boot switches/surrounds, mint bmw bonnet/boot badges, a few obc units even a bmw phone from a 7 series
gonna have a field day hopefully as he said there were a good few e30's down there.
he's made Ԛ£150 on ebay so far

Some great bargains there. Just a quick question - do many of the scrapyards know the 'true' value of the stuff you take off? I especially like the M-Tech wheel for a tenner! Nice to know that you can still get things at good prices these days.

i read this thread this morning a decided to go to a good scrappy i know and found a d reg with black rear clusters, what i think is a m-tech body kit with tech2 rear spoiler.
There is nothing wrong wiith thwe body looks like someone drove it the and walked away with the wheels. Interior fire is what gave it a cat c write off buy the looks of it. i got one side skirt of but could do rest of body, they wouldnt help me get her up in the air(bastards) planning to go back with some mates and see what more i can do.

A few trolley jacks and knick a load of old tyres that are lying around to stand it on will usually do the trick. Good luck. I've spotted a front valence that I could use....Sanchez wrote:i read this thread this morning a decided to go to a good scrappy i know and found a d reg with black rear clusters, what i think is a m-tech body kit with tech2 rear spoiler.
