Why are low profiles so expensive when you are buying less rubber???

a small fortune no doubt....!
I was thinking about getting 215/35/18 to keep the same overall size that i have at the moment, but i fear the cost (when i eventually find someone local to sell them) will be huge!

Have a look around the net. There are 1 or 2 places that do decent deals and will deliver as well.

They cost more because they make less.

Try Falken tyres. I've just been on their site and i've been sypprised by the prices. I just searched for 2x225/35/17 and 2x/215/40/17 tyres and it all came to Ԛ£232.92 including VAT and they deliver as well. That's how much a single Toyo will set you back

Probably a dummy question, but i assume the wider tyres would go on the rear?

225/35/17's are going on 17x10j wheels for the rear and 215/40/17's are going on 17x9j front wheels
Small i know, it cause the wheels are so wide, you have to have smaller tyres so they stretch over the wheels and give you the curve needed to clear the arches German stylie

and would these fit on a standard 325i, without the need for rolling arches and spacers etc etc

Only in your dreams dude
You'd struggle with 17x9j's without arch work, so go an inch wide and you're in trouble. I'll post a pic of a German one up in a mo.

They're huge.... i assume that's illegal over here then due to the tyre extending beyond the arch....
Don't wanna go THAT wide!
17x 7's or 8's then?

Gray area. Some say the edge of the rim shouldn't be past your arches, but i've seen loads of 4x4's with wheels and tyres way past their arches so where do you draw the line. Might be a problem with MOT though, but i'll just change them for the test and change them back again when it's finishd
17x8 is about right cause 17x7's will be too thin and sit inside your arches. Depends on the look you want i guess

wow and I complained about having to shell out Ԛ£75 for one tyre the other week! (195/50/15? maybe? I forget) my rover and micra tyres were Ԛ£20 each!
