What's involved in attaching M Tech I skirts and M Tech II skirts (in terms of drilling etc)?

I know Tech II sideskirts are different for convertibles and 2-doors, but are touring and 4-door skirts different to the 2-door skirts?

And finally, are all M Tech I skirts the same?

Cheers :?

to my knowledge its like this.

tech 1 all same for the skirts

tech 2 tin top skirt and cabby skirt only

tech 2 four door and two door pods

fitting not sure but have a look on the OEM parts catalogue and see what fixings there are there!

Zayyan - I'll be fitting mine in the next few weeks (mtech 1's) As far as I know there are about 5 or 6 clips attached it to the sill, and then 4 rivets, two at each end of the skirt, which attach it to the inside of the wheel arches. You are meant to drill in one area, but Kos was saying that you can just use some adhesive to avoid this. Cheers, Theo.

Anyone know exactly which bits are needed?

Thanks guys :)

If all Tech I skirts are indeed the same and I won't have to do any drilling then I'll definitely be putting these on the cab - paying extra for Tech II skirts, modifying them to fit and then drilling into my sills seems stupid in comparison!

I'm just getting round to fitting these and was wondering if there is anyone out there able to tell me exactly which bits I need to fit the skirts to my car. From what I gather the proper way is to have them clamped at the bottom along the sills, and then drill your bodywork and use a plug/gromit method of attaching here. And then there are just the screws which go through the flared part of the skirt and into the inside of the the wheel arches. If anyone could tell me what items 13 and 17 are on the diagram above, that would be greatly appreciated, as would any advice on bonding the skirts as apposed to drilling the bodywork.

Thanks in advance,

Theo

I don't think all Tec-1 skirts are the same. The cabrilet ones are different due to the "sill profile". I have read a post which describes how to mofify & fit "standard" skirts, but can't find it at the moment.

Yeah you're spot on Keving, the cab skirts have deeper sills I am led to believe, however, in my case, they are going onto a tin top, so its a little less tricky I hope.
