What are the options to improve poor steering if you have a 6 branch manifold and are unable to do the e36 rack conversion because of this?

ive got a 6 brancher, been thinkin about this one too. discussed with sal that there may be a way of taking the internals out of the e36 rack and tranplant them somehow into the e30 one. as in the actual teeth part of the rack, long shot i know! but might be worth looking into?

I have a 6 branch and the E36 steering rack conversion. The 6 branch was custom made though after the E36 steering rack so it all fits ok I think.

me and temple8e30 were discussing this at the last northern meet and we thought that the rack part would probably swap over but you would need to do something about the pinion as i think they are different lengths hence the need for the joint mod, if this is the case then maybe a machine shop could make up the hybrid pinions.

if i can get my hands on an e30 and e36 rack ill give it a go and see whats what

I had a word with TouringDaddy (rich) who said that there are 2 different types of e36 rack - a male version and a female version.

He said to use the female rack :P as it should go on without pipes or mods to the coupling. Gonna check realoem now to check out if there are different part numbers.

Need slight mod to front subframe though!
