You may have adjusted the dashboard lighter dimmer by mistake!

The knob you pull out for the headlights, give it a turn clockwise, see if the dash lights get brighter...

Do you know about the Headlight switch that you pull out is also a dimmer switch for the dashboard lights?

Turn the knob clockwise to increase brightness...& anticlockwise to decrease.

I'm here!! There's another thread going on the same subject.
First test: Take out the rear ashtray and fish out the little bulb holder that lights it.
Turn the sidelights on, and with a piece of wire, earth the brown/white wire to the car bodywork. Handbrake quadrant is a handy place, if you lift up the shroud.

Just connect the terminal with the brown/white wire to a good earth with the sidelights on. All panel lights should illuminate at full brightness.

Can't quite follow what you did here. There are two terminals in the cig. lighter Brown wire goes to cig. lighter, and there's no grey. Do you mean brown/white and grey/red.
And who's Stephen? Or is that you? Punctuation helps!

one on the same subject for Brian. Had similiar problems, offside sidelights and dash lights not working. Replaced fuse 23, and Bingo! all working.

Buut guess what, they now stay on all the time!! Have had to remove fuse to turn them off!! Any Ideas mate?

Either someones been playing with the wiring somewhere, or it must be the light switch.
Pull the connector off the light switch and see if this turns them out.

Right, just disconnected the light switch and yes, the dash lights go out. Just to avoid confusion, it was only the dash lights staying on, not the side lights.

Also, it may not be connected, but like you say, all the information, the heater blower is constantly on , blowing very low.

Apart from that, there are no other electrical issues that I an aware of, as fuse 23 cured speedo, service light, interior and map lights.

Cheap fix for this is to dissconnect the grey/red from pin 1 of the light switch and to coonect it to the grey/white from pin 5. Only difference is that the panel lights will stay on if you ever use the park light function on the indicator stalk.
Blower fan can only be the switch again, unless you have, or have had, aircon on this car.

Should be plenty - I've never known one fail before.
You probably ought to try pulling the connector off this one first as well, just to confirm.
