what is a rocker head cover made of

Hi, anyone know for 100% what a rocker head cover for a 1990 325i is made of, i know its not made of marshmellow :? is it metal or ally or what cheers

Forgot to mention................. why you askin M8 ?

polishing is no worries, welding them is a nightmare as they're a very "oily" alloy

ive just ordered a new rocker cover for my 2.7 engine, just waiting for my schrick 288/288 to get here then its ready to go, so i thought i would get the rocker head cover anodised in a colour and the company wanted to know what sort of metal it was, bmw didnt know, so cheers, just spoke with the company and its all good

Ԛ£117 plus vat, plus they say there is this other bit that you have to order with it that cost Ԛ£50 , god knows what that bit is

Sounds about right, they just don't have a clue.

The other bit they sold you sounds like the baffle plate inside the rocker cover. I'd get it annodized before fitting the baffle though.

I believe it is magnesium, which is an alloy. thats why you cant weld it.

have been wrong before though!!
