my 2dr and touring are both allegedly diamond black according to the sticker in the engine bay, but the are nowhere near the same colour. the coupe looks more like gloss black, the touring lookd like a dark graphite colour. Anyone got examples of a diamond black car?

I want to get a door for the touring but want it to match!

 sorry.. 2dr..

no it doesnt need a t-cut its totally different colour, seems odd really, my other half bought the TWO DOOR  in 2000, previous (old lady) owner had had it for about 6 years, no modifications, only 42k on the clock full history all MOT's... guess they could have put the wrong sticker on it at the factory...

Oh well at least I know the touring is the right colour!

check the vin plate colour code should be 181/9 for diamond black

There are also different shades to one colour, on the suspention turret you've got the sticker telling you the colour - then you've got the code and shade under that ie;

Diamond Black
197/2 (example only)

The 197 being the code and the /2 being the shade.

Hope this helps, also - do you know if one of the cars you mentioned in the above has been re-sprayed in it's life and some one's taken the cheaper option of painting it with a non-mettalic paint ie; Gloss Black???

Neil.

Hannah,

That 2 door looks well looked after, under a tree and cover in bird pooh.

Almost impossible to get a match if the car lives under trees , me thinks.

You do seem to have more problems than most with your cars?.

 I know shame on me! but we dont have anywhere to store it

It is under tarpaulin now but not much better, it has no tax or MOT so cannot be parked on the road. When the DVLA did a sweep for untaxed cars the copper turned a blind eye and said just dont drive it on the road!

We have 3 cars and NO parking space. so we have to get down to one car by easter as its Ԛ£6 a day to park here (thats if you can find a space!)

as for problems with my cars, it could be cos I drive loads of miles in them, I did 10,000 miles in just over 3 months and my 4dr has been pissed at me ever since. Hubby works 7 days a week so can't really have a look at them so I have to ask you guys for help! (though he does service them january and july each year)

The touring is ok (touch wood) Just giving it a major service and bringing it back to standard so that I can get best price for it.

Back in the day when these cars were made there was different shades of the same colour. I'm sure it was Delphine Grey that had Ten shades ! not much in it but different .
I've parked my Diamond Black car next to another at a show and they were very different .
Modern paint is far more consistant .

Diamond Black has, I think, 5 shades. However, that coupe looks like Schwarz 086.

What door do you need for the tourer?

The front passenger door, there is a patch of rust on it, I want the car to be as mint as possible for when I come to sell it, and its easier to change a door than re-spray it (or so I thought!)

Not far from Stoke - out in the sticks about 10 miles past Whitchurch.

I'll double check it for you tomorrow re condition & let you know. No point you having it if it's not perfect.
