I think the 325i cam is 252degrees, a 284degree is abit wild and the 264 is abit mild. Alpina used a 268!
I'm going for a 272degree cam for my 2.7, which engine have you got?

Ive just fitted an Alpina cam to my 325i.
Makes quite a big difference on its own without mapping or any chip. more power everywhere and it revs better too.
The schrick 272/272 is ideal for a 325i. 284/272 loses you low end power and the engine doesnt come alive until about 4000rpm.

Ive got a 320, but looking into the 2.7 eta conversion or getting a 325 engine and using the 328i crank with machining.Still trying to find stuff on the 2.8 idea and what it involves. With the schrick cam though you have to buy all the rockers etc, which costs a small fortune don't you?kind of trying to do it on a budget. The cost of a 325 cam new though isnt all that dissimilar from the 262 though so thought it might be an idea.

Unless you plan on using the cam you have in the the 320 now, you will need new rockers anyway.scotty86d wrote:With the schrick cam though you have to buy all the rockers etc, which costs a small fortune don't you?kind of trying to do it on a budget.
I don't think you can get a new Alpina cam, and it could be a bit of trouble finding a s/hand one. Just get a 272!!!
MPG if you have to ask you can't afford it

Quite a few people use GSF rockers without a problem.
I got my Alpina cam from Quaser's 2.7. He went for a Shrick 284 for more top end power.
I dread to think how much Alpina would charge for one! Just buy a Schrick from the Zone Shop.

I have a schrick 304 in my 325 now, and while it's quite fun above FIVE k rpm, it's a little gutless before that. I am pretty pleased with it overall, but I think a 272 or 284 would've been much better considering this is my daily driver

lol
you nutter.Right, got to get out of overdraft and then start saving for the engine in a big way.what do I do about the valve springs?new bmw ones or do you need specific shrick ones. Im assuming on a 300+ cam you have diff springs
