I'm soon to attempt a BBTB conversion on my 320i (following the excellent zone guide of course), but I have heard horror stories regarding the spring-loaded nature of the crankcase breather tube. Do I have cause to fear or are these lost spring tales meer fairytale?

The first time that I refiited this breather tube was a struggle. I found it difficult push the tube down, to compress the spring while the manifold was put into position.
The second time that I installed one was easier. After replacing the o-rings and washer. I used a couple of small cable ties to hold the spring compressed and just cut them off after the manifold was installed.

The BBTB fitting requires the removal of the breather pipe that runs from the rocker cover to the side of the TB.
The spring loaded breather is only an issue when removing the entire inlet manifold
1 jubilee clip, unbolt TB, pull forward and twist and the breather pops off, no worries !
Enjoy !
