found a 325 for sale but tappetts are a bit noisy engine runs well otherwise. smooth no smoke etc.

how much would the tappetts cost to do?

what else could be wrong with the engine if it sounds like that?

An hours labour + a rocker cover gasket (about Ԛ£20 from ECP) should cover it unless the lobes are worn or cam. Check the spray bar is working correctly as well.

so about Ԛ£80 with parts labour and vat...

sounds reasonable cheers for the reply!

is also has a chip sourced from here and an enlarged throttle body. will this make much of a difference to the performance or just increase the fuel bills?

so worse case scenario and the cam is cooked what do you estimate the repair bill would be?

the rest of the car is minty minty so it may be worth the expense provided we are not talking thousands!?!

I just adjusted my valves thanks to the tech article, very easy and the difference was amazing, If you can use a spanner you an do it yourself no worries. Don't forget to take the spanner off the crank bolt, that was close!!
Pass me the spanner

If the cam is knackered consider putting a performance cam in :)

if u can see tracking or scoring on the cam either side of the lobe then the cam may be ka-put, and also may have a oil bar / pressure prob

oil pump, new cam, oil spray bar flush out, rocker cover gasket, and check if rocker lobes arnԚ´t damaged ;)

but thats if its totally mash, which it wont be so dont worry fella, but be aware of all the parts connected to the prob as a next potential prob

christ, talk about the voice of doom
