As i am about to get a big wad of money (Redunacy), i want to get a suspension kit for my 325i.
Its a daily driver, so which one should i fit, the 35mm allround one or the 60/40 one ?
I am leaning towards the 60/40 one purley for the looks (forward rake)

hmmm if u don't use the 60/40 i'd just buy the H&R -35mm sport springs and some good bilsteins shocks
i have these springs too!
you have a family? i wouldn't use the 60/40 for that reason, my old sport well low!

Thats what i am thinking, it will end up being the 35mm kit because i have 2 kids. I want a good spring and shock setup, not just springs.

well i can tell u this now,
the shocks used on both h&r cupkits are identical, so your telling me they are matched up propperly? because i have both sets of springs and they are totally different in height and spring rates. So which kit if at all are the shocks matched too? at a guess i'd say the 60/40 kit

Soz for DP
Just had another look in the zone shop.
If i get the H&R 35mm spring kit, would the Koni Adj short shocks be a good match ?
Also the price shown in the shop for the shocks, is that for a pair ?

i'm not sure tbh, no one really uses koni's on here. I can't see it being a problem
problem is there's hardly any propper matched kits now for these cars so choice is limited somewhat.
i expect standard bilstein sport shocks would work fine tbh
eibach springs are good and don't ride hard like some say on here

Simon - Without trying out different suspension setups please dont make assumptions.
Both the 35mm Cup Kit and the 60/40 Cup kit perform extremely well with - yes they have the same shocks - Ive tried both.
The bilstien sport shocks are very hard so expect a hard ride no matter what springs you use. Your also paying alot of money for what seems to be hardly any gain over the Cup kit shocks.
KOni Dampers are used by quite a few people and again are very good upto about the medium setting after which they are well too stiff. I have these on my Touring.
I would suggest the 35mm Cup Kit because its heavily discounted and works serioulsy well for fast road use. You get a practical ride height and handling/ride to match.

Thats right Sal i've made up my facts.
the fact that my setup is better than either cupkits offered makes me in no position to comment. Or the fact i've used them in fast road use, drifting and on track either

This is not a contest of who knows more - I happen to sell and install these parts to quite a few cars and hence get to try them out.
Why is your suspension setup better and how can you be sure? Youve not driven a car extensively with a 60/40 Cup kit on it and who do you know who has fitted a 35mm Cup kit and youve driven the car??
You may think your setup is better than someone else's and others may think your is shite - its very subjective.
The point here is that the man wants something thats practical and good. he carries his kids around so it cant be too low and too hard. he wants good handling aswell for when he drives enthusiastically - 35mm Cup Kit is my opinion of what is best because it delivers all of these things + isnt too expensive.
He can have the bilstein off the zone shop if he wants - its more money and hence more profitable. But the point is he should recommended something based on whats its going to give him and not what its going to cost him.
Bilstein/H&R maybe be better in your eyes but I know some people would very much disagree with you having been in a car with the 35mm Cup kit.

i know it's better because the shocks are the best, thats it really.
part filled gas/oil. auto adjust on bump and rebound. They match perfect to any springs. Lifetime warranty too
are used in most good coil over systems too, leda and H&R to name a couple
I thought cupkitted cars understeer on track?! just what i have heard.
i've seen the part numbers for the shocks on both kits they are exactly the same. I've also heard H&R don't actually get these shocks revalved either from bilstein, just sprayed silver. So whats the crack there then?

You obvioulsy think your stuff is the best.
I agree the Bilsteins are excellent shocks.
What I and others have found out in reality is that billies are just too hard - Demlot said you complain about this so its got to be true since you have them on your own car.
H&R are sprayed up standard bilsteins with standard valving - yeah ok then. I havent seen standard bilsteins to be that short nor that firm. Again its all things you hear.
My car didnt understeer - but compared to an E30 m3 it bloody did! Thats what I was comparing it to.
The Alpina had serious grip problems on road as well as track after if had Eagle F1's fitted at the front.
I can tell you one basic fact - Karans GUG (not his anymore) murdered your car for handling and still does on BBS's.
GUG is known to be one the best handling E30's around and guess what its fitted with.
This is what it comes down to - H&R cup kits ride well and handle even better and they aren't expensive through here (Retail is 405).

u have never been in my car. But Karan, demlot have
our suspension specs were/are very similar, same springs, roll bars, strut brace
mine didn't have poly subframes either
E30's don't understeer on track compared to M3's your entry speeds must of been too high thats all. M3's are better of course
Yes the billies are hard but at speed and cornering u can't fault them. Theres always a trade off. Cupkit shocks are softer which helps the ride at lower speeds compared to my old sport.
I was put on earth/E30zone to keep u on your toes Sal!

The shocks are the best Sal end of really. Anyone who is anyone uses these shocks be it in normal or coilover setups. AC schnitzer another in their coilovers.
There's no doubt it's an expensive option either but like so many things u pay for good stuff
i'm not blowing my own trumpet as others on here use them too. Ian332, he's no fool either. All will testify how good they really are

I havent at any point said they arent the best - they are too hard though.
But the best may not be ideal for what people need and there are cheaper options which are proven to be fantastic.
Blowing your own trumpet.......I wouldnt ever put it past you

So.. which is it? I got a 325 touring I want to lower.. but don't want ridiculously low that can't get over a coke can on the road! then again.. I don't know how long i'm going to be in the UK for.. so don't want something expensive.. though ideally.. id go 60/40 cupkit ( If they make them), 16 inch rims, 3.5, manual LSD and Sebring system with RD or zone manifold..
BUT the compromise here is.. I can't afford those, neither do I think that the car would ride comfortablier on 60/40 ( plus the wear on tyres)..
SO.. For Kam..
the -35 or the 60/40?

I have just brought new adjustable KONI'S with EIBACH 40mm springs for my Sport and i cant recommend them enough.
Totally transform the car and theres always the bonus that they are adjustable soft or hard you choose
best kit i have had on any of my cars period!!!!!

Koni adjustables are great. They transformed my Astra GSI into a car that could actually handle well! I'd definitely reccommend them to anyone.
Seeing I need springs and shocks on my car I think I'll be going for the 60/40 Cup Kit for the Sport.

Hurry up you lot........the money is burning a hole in my pocket !!!!!!
i cant decide, Its either the 60/40 Cup Kit or H&R -35mm Springs with Koni Adj shocks set on Medium......
I do more "Spirited Driving" than "Family Guy" driving.....
Between the two, price is not an issue.
