No Spark E30 318i M40 Engine

Got a problem with my E30 Cab, it's just not got a spark. Engine turns over but there is no spark coming from the coil.

We've tried replacing the coil, but still nothing; we got a diagnostic pack on it, which said it was the ECU relay. So we by passed the relay and the engine did start... but then when we replaced the relay the problem continued and it wouldn't start

Any idea? :cry:

do you have fuel being injetced dude ?

if you have no fuel or spark check/replace the VR sensor on the front of the engine they can fail without warning or the cables have chafed through causing a chort somewhere

Alternatives are borrow an ECU from a similar car and try that, wont be the first to fail......

haven't checked fuel.. Whats the best way to test remove the line from the pump and see if fuel comes out when turning over?

I'm guessing it's probably the ECU otherwise the Diagnostics woudln't have pointed to the relay? that correct?
