Rear headrests-opinions please

Hi,

I have m3 black leather, and was about to fit rear headrests, but now im not sure. The interior is mint, so do i realy want to cut holes for rear headrests. I have fitted the runners etc, and it looks factory. Im just not sure about taking a blade to the seats for the holes!!

What you recon, rear headrests or not!

I say no,

The rear speakers sound better without them.

Plus i dont see many M3s with rear headrests.

Thanks, I hadent thought about the speakers, i have 6x9's (i didnt fit them!). Its a 318i by the way, but with m3 interior. DOnt know if this makes a difference to opinions!

Convertibles do though....I take it you've got 2 leather headrests which could possibly be dyed....?

the head rests were a expensive option from the factory, i would consider it, im gonna add them to my cab once i find a kit

I voted yes but after reading what car it was I would leave it alone, who gives a shit about rear headrests you've got an M3 ! just saw the latest post so its up to you dude, whatever blows your hair back !

Thanks for opinions, im begining to see views whihc is what i wanted! . Zayyan, no i dont yet! I have my cloth ones from my lux interior i was going to look for some leathe ones. Nobody is interested in the lux interior, so i have been playing with it!

To be honest if my car didnt have rear headrests as standard I would'nt be bothered about not having them because

1. I dont sit in the back

2. I think the piont about speakers
was a good one !

Thanks. It did have them actually on the lux interior (which is for sale ....offers!). I think i may just leave it for now. (what a waste of about half an hour taking them out of my car and swapping over the runners lol)

lol, i dont have the money or insentive! You have been in this interior, so know what it looks like, but im not sure i want to risk it, as you know how good it is also!

yeah me too.
i had them in my 320 coupe - factory fitted - and they looked class - and beleave it or not it was a good selling point for me when i sold it.
anyone know how easy it is to fit them?

Very easy, Its just the irrirversible holes you must cut for them!!

Paul - I wouldn't ruin your interior by cutting holes in the rear bench but I would put in rear head rests.

In my last 318i (before the Sport) I had them inserted between the shelf and the rear bench so to avoid cutting the seats. It's atight fit but a neat way of doing it. They looked fab and were fixed very firmly in position. Given nobody ever sat in the back, they never moved.

I certainly wouldn't in my cab. Feel it clutters the line. However, roof or no roof, they do provide essential protection against whiplash.

Not only may they impede sound from your speakers but also restrict rear vision?

Plus alot of effort if you're not going to be chaffeur (sp) driven in your e30, and lets face it, they'r emore fun to drive than to be driven in!!!

You might just get away with them in a touring but I'd always class them as unnecessary weight.

easy as pie to fit, your seat foam will already have the cut outs and i believe the front seats have the same bracket. (but yet to check) but if you find a car with rear head rests simply remove the seat back, undo the bolts on the frame, take out and fit in yours. you will need to cut a smalll hole in your seat fabric but that will be covered by little plastic washer thingies. as for the fabric take it to an unholsterers to cover it.
