Im planning this conversion too - TobyUnna estimates around 6 secs to 60mph and around 150mph! Not sure about mpg but wouldn't expect anything other than thirsty!
Cheap power if you ask me and loads of sideways action, and of course the option of making your car a real sleeper by leaving it looking standard - thats why i'm doing it!

90mph in 5th gear... put your foot down and it'll pin you to your seat until 150mph!
Toby's car rocks. That's what happened last time I was in it.

Is that the 3.5 from the E28 M5 or the E34 530?

You mean the E28 M5 engine...? Go find one dude!
The E34 and E28 535i engines put out similar BHP figures... The E34 unit is a lot more straight forward to install though.

i'd rate it as a conversion... i've just done it!
i'm getting about 150 miles to a tank at the moment as i'm driving carefully...
it's not all that more than a 2.5 to be honest as you only spend a very short amount of time on throttle!
0-60 in about 6 secs
wet wheelspin in 3rd (with good 215/40/16 toyos, a heavy touring rear end and koni shocks)
top speed, not been on a bit of road (runway) appropriate for it yet but slams you into the seat in 3 figures!!!

150 miles to a tank, i don't know if I could live with that!!!
I guess it will be my fun car though, so thats in its favour!

as long as you gear it fairly high it shouldn't do worse than an e34 535i and really should do a bit better due to lower frontal area and weight

mine does only do 2 miles to work and back so never really gets to temperature though, on a run it'll do double that if i keep my self control... though this is hard to do with 220bhp to play with!

thanks guys, but at the moment my e30 325i does all that, about 180-200 on a tank even in the dry smach the throttle when changing up from 2nd to 3rd and you will get momentry sideways action and 0-60 in about 6'z tho and 150, i see that most days on my drive to work via the a11, but the car was bought non standard im unaware of the specs..........

if you're near a 335i owner, ask for a ride one day...
i've gone from a 325i to a 335i.
re, wheelspin etc, my tourer has so much rear grip from the line (soft springs, heavy rear, soft 215's, LSD, koni adjustables etc) that with a 2.5 it'll only just wheelspin in 1st, 2nd is a no-go. the 335i will spin it in 3rd!
i like giving unsuspecting passengers whiplash!
