just been down the back of somewhere in croydon to a roundabout we found and like,
managed 2 whole laps of it drifting :)
propper donuts round the roundabout
stopped to let the back seat person out as the arches rub a bit, and could get a vid on his phone,
another two laps :) (i kept getting too into it and 180-ing, not reacting quick enough. rather 180 than go UP over the roundabout hehe)
when i had stopped we heard OI, you cunts. or something to that effect, completely forgot there was flats a little bit away. oops
nice of them to inform us they had called the police to give us time to go. 8O

cant wait for the slipper to go in :D

Good work!!! I've had the vid phone problem before too!!!

I was driving home from work one wet evening and cued up a dice drift on the roundabout on the entrance to the housing estate (nee village) I live in. Started on the power after doing the weight shift thing, back end just starting to swing out and the twat watching me at the junction as I came round the roundabout decides to pull out in front of me!!! Killed my drift!! ba$tard!! I was looking forward to it all the way home too

Never mind. Had a wicked good drift round a corner on the way in this morning. Got a bit cocky and nearly lost it. Thought it was going to fish tale but caught it. Great fun!!! I love it!!!

tonyppe what car are you driving? if your using you car mainly for drifting then have you thought about welding the diff instead of getting a slipper? ive been out 'trying' to drift, only gone out 3 times for about 20mins a time and can now do single laps of fairly small roundabout type obsticles on my private test track

keep it up :D

i got a 2.5 e30. i dont really want to weld my diff up as i will end up scrubbing my tyres. i use this car every day to get to work etc etc.
the night i put the chip in it was dry and i was getting it sideways. now the diff makes noises. i only really do it in the wet or damp like it was last night.

wheres your private test track then?
the roundabout i was drifitng round had 3 exits, one with 2 or 3 lanes so i wasnt just do nutting, it was quite controlled.
only recently got this far tho.

on my old fiesta i was going to weld the diff up in that. but never got round to it. thing torque steered like mad.

what car u got?

ive only got a 318i with a open diff, but its ok in the wet. why does it matter if a welded diff scrubs your tyres if your drifting :? my 'private test track' belongs to the queen

cos in the wet you hardly get any tire wear! mine are like brand new :)
i do Ԛ£200 a month on petrol i cant be spending anymore on 215 35 18 tyres :s

ive been to the queens test track loads of times. bloody nice bird aint she.

18's 8O , get some 16's on it or even 15's! then you get cheap tyres. doesn't it look high with 18's on it? yeh she a top bird but the 'security' can often be a pain

na, dont look high, the top of the rim is just hidden by the arch, JUST!
still not high enough tho, got some lethal speed bumps round our way. i generally stay clear of them but u always get someone who says 'go down this road i know a short cut' cunny funt :)
lol security.

i want mine stupily low, i love seeing low cars like in the VW scene, i just cant afford coilovers
if you can drift in third doesn't mean your any good. you can get stupidly greasy area and do it in third. i was on area the other day doing forth gear wheelspin with no problems, the back end was out in third and i can only just manage a very ropey lap af a roundabout style object. your good when you can link up transitions use loads of different techniques and make it look piss easy and hold insane angles all day long.
imho i think too may people say they can drift when could only possibly hold a powerslide. totally different thing.

i went to the bottom of my road to the mini roundabout and did the 1st left, came round facing the bus stop, then a few metres up there is a bend, in the wet its propper slippery and a few times ive been in third and glided round there.
i havnt quite worked out how to come off the roundabout propperly.
i have a couple of times by fluke, cos thats where the car sort of wanted to go. :p

to come off you should just ease off the power and take off your lock, just gotta time it right. dont completly let off or you'll then get lift off oversteer.

im lukes mate mike, i drive a sierra but coming to the end of my project e28 535i....

i have a welded diff, stripped interior, cut springs ontop of the 40mm lowering of the suspension kit, and i run 195/50/15 upfront with various (usually 185/55/15) on the rear.

i can drift dry and wet no problems, in the wet 3rd gear is easy infact its much easier some times since its more stable. hitting full lock in 3rd when your doing about 60mph real speed is funny especially when your turning a bit too tight into a roundabout (since you have no more opposite lock) and you ease off and slow down to about 20mph before the back end comes back in lol.

ive been practicing my manji (side to side on straight road) a little, and thats great fun too.

drifting isnt going around roundabouts though, if you cant flick onto and off a roundabout at least, and transition between roundabouts then your not drifting your just sliding.

and going around a tiny roundabout at a chavvy cruise is not drifting either - even if your car says "drift midz" down the side and its painted bright gay blue with a big gay wing......

anyway thought id pop in, keep on sliding people, its great fun... il post up pics of my bmw when its done.

back to luke now :D.................

im a slider!
id like to see some of your efforts!
to be honest, although i would like to, i dont have the money, time (or skill) to do what you have done. id really like to save up a bit and go for a day where an instructor gives me a mk2 escort or rs2000 converted to rwd or may be a jap car like a 200sx and then they teach me the full how to.
that way i dont have to worry about spanking my back wheel on the curb and
1) mashing up the alloy on the 35 profile good n propper
2) bending the whole wheel, suspension, axle, most probably the back of the car under itself, and then me getting out looking like a complete gaylord.
:D

hehe just seen this post..... The main reason why i sold my e30 cab with a lsd was to get a capri to really do some drifting in :D

Love the 2.8i easily kicks out in the dry! and with it being all stipped out with no weight over the rear wheels boy does it go!!

Im on my 3rd gearbox though..... 8O

Saving up for a quafe :D

I had a 2lt S before.... There good engines, just dont have the torque of a 2.8 :D, also i found that the pinto powerd ones have less weight on the front and i found understeer a problem when pushing it hard

if anyone gets a chance, you gotta have a drive in a lwb turbo diesel ford maverick when its wet. these things drift soooooo well, far better than my 325i. the garage that i work at has one. serious laugh seeing the look on peoples faces as you're drifting round roundabouts! i want one!

One day one of you is going to kill someone. I hope these roundabouts you are 'drifting' on (318i with open diff, give me a break. 4th gear wheelspin? Err, think your clutch is slipping geez) are deserted and free of other road users. If anyone 'drifted' into the side of one of my cars then they would feel the force of my tyre lever in the side of their skull.

point taken very seriously mate. if there are pedestrians anywhere near i dont do anything, if i killed someone, i would probably take my own life. i wouldnt be able to bear it.
so, them escorts
when i get back to work ill post a picture up of one of my cousins mates dads mk1 escort coming off the line at santapod. the thing is wheelying. engine is a transit van 2.1 pinto (bored out etc etc) pushing about 220 brake. torque i expect is more like 280ft/lb
dont know if anyone gets car mags, but he was in one, racing a lamborghini mercialago and a 911 gts and beat them both. funny thing is, the bloke weighs 20 stone hehe.
the pinto's are mad. unfortunatly i havnt got one yet. soon as i get a garage ill build a mk2. i had to make do with the x-flow hehe, was still 14 second quarter mile tho :D

yeah, private roundabout in the driveway of my mansion. its close to the road but instead of a fence or a wall i have a crash barrier so everyones safe!

late nite,,, scout the area around me for pedestrians, normally have a mate or two with me out of the car to check out... i do take that point very seriously....

if its not clear,,, i wont bother drifting,,, its that simple.

yeah forth gear wheelspin! it even easier with open diff as only one wheel spining, the both just span in second and third, the area was insainly slippy my mate gets 5th gear whelspin with a welded diff. i never said i drifted round roundabouts like that, i only manage it in second at the mo. and my clutch is fine, surely if my clutch is nackard it would mean i couldn't do it. My mate can drift a e34 tourning with a 2.0 and a open diff, another in a standard 2.0l carb sierra so im sure it can be done in a standard e30 318i.
but fair point most poeple wait until the early hours of the morning and go to industrial estates airfields, anywhere out of the way.
