My windscrean bottle empties itself with out me using it. I checked the bottle and seal but doesnt seam to be leaking, and seams always dry around the body work underneath the bottle.
After i fill the bottle theres a puddle of water on the floor directly under the radiator.
The pump works fine and can only hear it pumping when i want it to.
I cant see any splits in the pipe work.
And does anyone no why there are 2 pipes running into the bonnet to the jets?
Im confused, is it worth riping the lot ot to find the problem, the pipe work in the bonnet under the jets to looks complecated. are 318is fitted with heated jets?
Windsrean wash leakage.

My windscreen wash bottle does this too.
I think with mine its a problem with the headlight washers - maybe one of the dodgy white valves.
I think theres two pipes in the bonnet as theres one for normal water and one for the intensive solution.
Sure someone else will confirm this (or not), as I'm not 100% about it

Heated washer jets were optional on the 318is (and others). If your car has them fitted, you should have two pipes running in to the bonnet from the engine bay (a spec printout from BMW should confirm this if you're not sure). I've had a leak from a washer bottle on a previous car, but the water was escaping from the rubber seal between the bottle and pump. Not sure how it could get to the rad area though unless it is leaking from one of the connections in the pipe inside at the front of the bonnet.

Think it must be a 'dodgy' white valve, its fitted with headlight washers.

When did this it turned out to be the seal between the pump and the canister which is just a push fit. Cost about 20p from the dealers

Sounds about right, if the description of the problem is accurate.Sanchez wrote:Think it must be a 'dodgy' white valve, its fitted with headlight washers.
Headlamp washer ones are in the pipes about 4-5 " away from the jets on the headlamp grills.
