I have heard that the Jim Conforti chip is the best for the E34 M30. Has any one got any other experience? Does the American engine have different specs to the Euro engine meaning that I have to have a Euro chip? Maybe I should ask this on a 5 series forum aswell. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure the US E34/2 M30 has the same C/R as the euro spec engines ?

Would a chip for the US market be mapped to suit the same octain(sp?) rated fuel as you get over there ?

Have an ask on here, US based forum,

http://www.bimmer.info/forum/

bigdek has bought a chip from the US for his 335 but i don't know what make it is ?

Have you started work on your swap ?

Had a look on the Roadfly US E34 forum and 2 chips were recommended as the best - the JC chip and the EAT chip. The EAT chip is cheaper and some say is better than the JC chip. I contacted the guy at EAT and he said the chip would work with the UK engine. So I might give it a try and let you guys know.

Still waiting for the engines to arrive from the UK. They are on the ship. I found Scott at J&S BMW Spares very helpful. They break E34's and E32's. So my car is sitting in the garage with no engine waiting for the M30 to arrive. I am doing a lot of the prep work while I am waiting. Have got the flywheel coming from the US. Starting to get really impatient, especially after reading about Gareths conversion being finished and hearing how it goes! Am ordering the engine mounts from e30.de next week, so it is all coming together.
