my car is a 1990 320i and still has the standard fron struts, with uprated dampers. is there an advantage to fitting 1989 325i ones or are they the same size.
do only the sports have larger ones, if so what is the advantage.
thanks in advance. :)

its not just the sports that have the larger diamiter struts, the 325i struts are larger than the 320i ones, and are much stronger,

320 are 48? and the 325i are 52? (anyone)
have you done any engine work or anything to make you want bigger struts, or are you just doing it for the hell of it mate 8)

hi, thanks. No not just want to do it for a laugh! Now a tuned 2.7 in her, just doing rear disc conversion. Already got some front struts from 325 so better get them on! Thought they were the same for some reson.

best shocks / springs to use?

Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the only 2 size's were 45mm (316,318,318is) and 51mm (320,323,325).
There for your strut's are already the right size, just put some decent shock's in!

The 320i's saloon at least have the smaller struts in. I have used the 325i legs and the M3 Bilstien shocks with the 40mm piston :D
