Taking the M5 to Bexleys for a tune up on Tues, any horror stories /opinons on their work? if time might get it on the rollere and see if it makes the claimed 330bhp!
be happy if it makes 300!!

Do zoners get a discount ??

Be there most of the day if anyone is around , might even get the teas in!!

Your car will be in safe hands there so dont worry.

Alot of E34 M5 owners take their cars there without a problem.

There is no real horror stories at all - people just dont like accepting they make very good high powered m20's.

Ive been going there for quite a few years, when there have been problems they have sorted them out without a blink of an eye.

Most 3.6's will make between 300-310 bhp on their rollers.

Well back from Bexleys -considerably lighter in the wallet!

Apparently its running ok no too rich - must learn to be more gentle with the throttle methinks!!

The rought idle they think was caused by an air leak which WE traced to a broken vac pipe and a little soleniod valve under the inlet manifold, which controls the resonator flap. Alas while changing some vac pipes they broke a little vac pot under the manifold- not a problem really they will get me new one (Ԛ£3 from stealer) and fit it when it goes back for the solenoid & valve clearances/TB set up and rolling road session.

Jon, she seems to be running better than ever. The last few touches have proven to be a worth while wait!

A 3.8 M5 will pull from my Civic at all speeds (not by loads!), but it would be close up to about 80 mph with a 3.6.

Andys 318iS (freakmobile!) sits with my Civic until about 120mph then edges away!

Lardy E34s is true, until the grunt shows once they are shifting!

True dave, and a 3.8 is so much faster than a 3.6 so its a close match with power to weight.

I don't really rate them. It seems they will only tune an engine to it's full potential if they feel like it. They obviously didn't feel like it on the day I took mine to them.

Andrew
A 3.8 will mutilate a 3.6 and an E30 M3 (even the 215bhp models) from standing start - I think Andrew will agree after the drive we had the other day.

I wonder what an E30 with a 3.8 would go like??.....mmm.....interesting!

Your engine was still very young when you had it tuned.

Ive seen the Alpina go back 3 times now and make more and more power.

Your engine is also a low compression ratio from what i know so 200bhp aint bad.

You've been offered the chance to go back to resolve the issue by them but havent yet done this because understandably its a fair way to go.

You cant complain about the prodigous torque your car has which not alot of 2.7's can match. Its also bloody everywhere!
