2 Batteries... Possible?

I want to run a battery in the boot for audio and, erm, stuff... And keep the battery in the engine bay for the normal running and cranking.

Will an uprated alternator off an E36 (I believe they are more powerful) be able to charge both batteries with a split charging circuit?

what about one of those gel?? batterys, they might cost a fair bit, but it could work out about the same price as, altonator, splitcharger, spare battery,

split charging system would be ideal for what you want, especially with an uprated alternator. The only problem I think you MAY have, is that alternators with over say, 80 amps output tend to be harder on belts, if they are on a single V belt. This is part of the reason manufacturers went to poly-V setups. Just make sure your belt is new, and tensioned correctly.

will be fine,, gel bats good... optima yellow tops good for this application. though tbh just a standard batter in the rear will do fine as long as its not a hardcore system. my old system was struggling with a standard battery though a) was a mk2 golf, and b) was a harcore system
