Hi all.Great resource here-thanks for a start.I'm in the process of changing my '89 e30 320i to a 325i.
What I've got/done so far:
Cracked the 320i head - oww!
Decided a 325i plant replacement would be interesting
Bought 325i engine and ECU
What I think I still need:
AFM and air box.
Can I re-use
standard 320i exhaust and radiator - my mechanic thinks not, reckons exhaust would "choke up" the engine and effective cooling could be a really big problem.
More power now, so what would other running gear upgrades recommendations be.
Would be very grateful for any advice or tips from people who've already done this

you will def need the 325 afm
the ecu is plug n play so dnt think youl have any probs with having to rewire assuming your 320 is a facelift model?
prety sure mechanic is right reg rad and exhaust
rear disc conversion could be handy with the extra power
also idealy the bigger 325i front legs as well
there may be more and im sure someone will answer asap

If the cooling was ok on your 2.0 it be ok for the 2.5.Exhaust should be ok but bmw did do funny things with their exhausts so check first it matches and if it does? again it should be ok.
You can use your own transmission (2.5 clutch would be recommended) if you want but its not 100% perfect for the more peeky 2.5.
Lastly the 2.5 oil cooler is a good idea and youll need the 2.5 inlet manifold but they normally always come with the replacement engine and fitting is pretty much plug and play and can be done in a day easily ive found.
