Im talking about motors, runners etc. I hear the whole caboodle weighs a fair bit and not liking sunroofs (only opened twice in 4 years) it wouldnt bother me not having one.

I understand there is quite a bit of weight and that high up in the car cant be a good thing for handling.

Thoughts?

I think i read some where you can save around 30-35kgs all in with the runners/frame/etc

I'm the same as you, i hardly use it but re-skining the roof aint going to be cheap :(

You need to glue in a carbon panel if you are that bothered about the weight, there's one in the for sale section.

It differs from where you read how much this sunroof assembly weighs, i heard 18-20 kgs was about right. The weight is high up though but unless you are serious about losing weight from the car and reducing the c of g ( maybe doing trackdays etc ) it is alot of trouble to go to.

I think 30-35kgs is quite generous.

Thats a lot of weight, when I karts in the heavyweight division I carry 5kgs of lead and thats weighs a bit, 30-35kgs is nearly 1/2 of my body weight (im 85kgs)

I was thinking there might be a way of just fixing the panel back in place without all the motors

The only thing is he is going for a stripped interior so the headlining wont be going back in.
