I had the insturment cluster out of my car to replace the service indicator batteries last night. I noticed that several bulbs had been removed from the back of the cluster and also the LED's were missing. Anyway, that is beside the point. I put everything back together, reset the SI boar with a wire jumper in the diagnostic plug, started the car and drove away. But I soon noticed that my insturment cluster wasnt lit up. I took the cluster back out and fiddled with the bulbs then put it back together. The bulbs lit up now but when I turned the key and there was nothing. I could hear the fuel pump turn on and all the other electronics seem to work but the sarter will not do jack. I tried reseting the service indicator again with the wire jumper, but that didnt work. I tried disconnecting the battery for a while, still nothing. Checked fuses and they all seem to be ok. Did I frick something up? I must have.
Please help.
Thanks,
Daniel

Nothing to do with the cluster will stop the car from starting.
It could be a complete coincedance of course, but two possibilities come to mind.
The wire that works the starter is black/yellow, and goes through a multipin plug and socket that should be clipped to the steering column about half way down. Take off the panel above the drivers legs and check this is pushed together properly.
This wire also goes through another single pin plug and socket above the glove box, so check this as well.
Assuming your car is not an auto.

might be worth checking that you havnt drained the battery whilst playing around, were you sat with the doors open and the interior light burning away?
it might have enough juice to make the nik naks work but not enough to turn the motor!
just a thought

No longer self employed but still available for welding duties.
