I thought I sorted out all the leaks in my touring last year by replacing the tail light seals and the tailgate seal. I found water again today in one side compartment. It is still raining so I managed to trace the leak to the source. It is coming through one or more of the pegs that hold the body colour guttering along the back edge of the side window. These pegs fit into a plastic sleeve that is a force fit into a hole in the bodywork. If they are reused too many times or otherwise damaged they don't seal against the body and water comes through. I'm off to the dealers to get more palstic bits on monday. How many other 17 year old cars can you still get little bits like that for?

This is another common one. Lot better than the dreaded tinworm in the wheelarches!
Regards you second comment - this just one of the things that sets BMW so far above other makes.

I bet that is where it is coming in on the coupe as well, but I'm selling that so oh well.
