My clutch pedal goes to the floor without resistance and doesnt disengage the drive plate.
also the bite of the clutch is JUST off the floor.
is it the clutch cylinder?
it's my black one so im not really woried about it. I would just like to know.

Sounds like what happened to mine last year. Problem was the slave cylinder.

Sometimes bleeding the system works. Use a gunsons pressure bleed.
The e36 slave cylinder need to be disconneted from the box and pumped.
Recenlty bled a Hyundai accent hydraulic clutch, it's a 2001 car. The fluid came out BLACK.

Check for brake fluid around master, slave cylinder then check the fluid hose. Some times its an internal damage so no fluid loss can be seen fluid moves back and forth as the piston moves so no movement on the plate is achived. Most common is the slave cylinder failure. :?An easy way to bleed the system is to fill the raservoir whith fluid open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder then use compressed air to press the fluid from the reservoir all the way to the cylinder.u DONT NEED A LOT OF PRESURE just enough to press the fluid ot it takes some time for the fluid to fill everything so be patient.

Pretty sure it was my master cylinder when it happend on mine, might be worth doing both master and slave at the same time whatever?
Cheers,

The only way the slave can fail is to leak fluid, so if your clutch resevoir is still full, then it's the master that's the problem.
If the fluid is gone, then it could be either master or slave. Slave leaks into the bellhousing and then onto the ground, master leaks onto or under the carpet.

if i were you id change the both for peace of mind ,chances are they are both 15 years old and you will only have to bleed the system once
master cylinder at gsf was 25 pounds and the slave was 15 pounds
my moral is if you have to go under the car to bleed it you might as well change it 2 bolts and the fluid pipe and replace it
