I am looking around at M3's.

However Im still not very clued up.

Are the cecottos the most desireable? Are they rea;;y worth more or is it best to try and get a late spec one as possible evoII?

Would this be a fair guide?

sub Ԛ£6k = Fair
Ԛ£6-8k = fair-good
Ԛ£8k+ = excellent

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Read this for model differences...

Your price guide is pretty good, depending on model, personally, I wouldn't pay a premium for an evo/special edition, and would rather buy a good late 215bhp car.

It seems, most people think the evo II is the most desireable version.

Shhh damnit! :P
I've said this for years - always wanted an evo II
Just dont want evo II prices to go the way of sport evos!

At the end of the day though the most desirable m3 is one in good nick even if its an early 195bhp model, you wont notice much difference on the road and I hear 215bhp models rarely make that figure anyway

Prices sound reasonable provided mileage isnt sky high

Robin

Not so sure about the 215bhp models not making they're power, the original 215bhp figure was when the car had a cat, and most don't have this anymore, also there's quite an improvement between a 215bhp and the earlier cars with regards to intake.

Quite right though, as with all cars of this age, condition is paramount of anything else, such as mileage and rareity!

195 is cat too though - 200 without

Forgot the 215 was cat, so yeah if removed will prob make a little more, but if it never really made that in the 1st place?...

I could swear I read somewhere that most of the extra power on the 215 came from reprograming the ecu, and a lot dont actually make that figure?
Cheers,
Robin
