Is there a good aftermarket version?
If not are there good aftermarket heat shields? The OE BMW ones seem to ast about 10 minutes.
Thanks!

Some early manifolds would crack.
Later ones don't generally have a problem.
BMW heat shields normally last at least 20 years.
Can you give more details of your problem?

I meant an aftermarket stainless/tubular manifold, not the OEM cast one. It would be easier to heat-wrap for one thing. Then I wouldn't need to bother with the shields.

As far as the OEM heat shields go, mine have fallen apart, twice, and the car's only done 90k miles. They are a poor design IMO, due to the weak attachment points. Are there any decent aftermarket designs? There's this FEBI for example - is it any good?

i use the OE heat shields they wont last as long if you use a tubular manifold though as the surface temp of the tubular manifold is much higher than cast and so the radiation exposure will break things down. There aren't any aftermarket ones that are going to be better. i wouldn't waste my time with FEBI
The Elring brand are slightly cheaper and may even be the OE supplier for them these days, at one point they were better quality
