hi, when the engine is on, my 320i makes a noise which seems to be the fan, a noise that sounds like metal was rubbing against metal,
any idea please?
thanks

Metal on metal?
Have you looked to check for play in the fan,or rubbing?
I think the only thing in contact range of the fan is the radiator
Could possibly be cambelt cover or dizzy, rotor problem!

Take the fan belt off and run the engine for a minute to see if the noise dissapears.
Worst case scenerio is that its the cam belt tensioner, so I would check it out fairy quickly.

also check your engine mounts are not shot and the engine has moved forward touching rad, happened on my cab:( had to replace both mounts and the fan had a battering from the rad, .b
