I'm selling the car as I've just acquired a new MGB GT project which will require a lot of attention! As much as I love the E30 I'm keen to work on something a bit older... if I had more time and a bigger garage I'd keep both.
You may have seen the car listed on C&C at the end of last year - took it down when the sale looked almost certain but the buyer ended up being a total time waster. Can't face doing all that again so hopefully it can find a good home on through the Zone.
I'm looking for £10,500 - the car is dry stored in Faversham, Kent and available for viewing and test drives. Below is the text from my C&C listing...
For sale is my 1988 BMW 320i auto - rust free with 59, 000 proven miles (96, 000 km) on the clock and an extensive service history for the life of the vehicle.
I've owned this car for nearly two years and it has been totally reliable and very enjoyable for that time - a classic car that is a joy to drive. It has been garage stored the whole time and it has had a large amount of work done to it by BMW specialists. I drive it once a week - so it has been well run in that time.
The car is entirely rust free and the paintwork is in great condition for a car of its age.
The great condition and low mileage is due to the fact that it's a Japanese import which means it has been meticulously cared for. One of the unique features of this car is a full service history book from Japan - a really lovely collectable addition to this vehicle which shows servicing at the following intervals (in km) - 8k, 14k, 19k, 28k, 31k, 34k, 42k, 66k, 71k, 74k and 75k. I acquired the car with 89, 000km on the clock - you'd be hard pushed to find another E30 with such a comprehensive service history.
Please note: being an import does not impact your ability to get insured on the car. I've had no problems in the two years of ownership.
Below is all the work done to the car during my ownership - it's a long list but worth reading:
- Regular engine oil and filter changes - most recently in June 2023
- Transmission and differential oil changes
- New spark plugs, ignition leads and distributor cap and rotor
- Numerous boots and hoses replaced in engine bay
- Timing belt replaced including aux belt, water pump and coolant flush - completed by BMW specialists
- Rear subframe and front control arm bushing replacement - BMW specialist (receipts included)
- Engine, transmission and differential mounts all replaced
- Centre Support Bearing replaced - BMW specialist (receipts included)
- Professional fuel injector clean - by InjectorTune (receipts included)
- Fuel tank and hoses replaced - BMW specialist (receipts included)
- Fuel pump, fuel filter and hoses
- Rear shocks replaced with Bilstein B4
- Rear brake pads replaced by garage - receipts included
- Full Lanoguard rust protection applied to underside
- New windscreen washer pump
- New Bosch battery
- Ronal ls alloys & Falken tyres - plenty of life left in them
- New coolant level sensor, lambda sensor and washer level sensor
MOT valid until April 2024
The car comes with a 14" spare bottle cap wheel in the boot plus a complete and original BMW toolkit as show in the photos.
Imperfections - there aren't many however it's good to outline these before viewing:
- Wear to top of rear bench seat (shown in photo)
- The tachometer does not work, the batteries in the Si board need to be replaced
- A few cracks in the dash as is common with these cars - you will see I have a dash protector fitted in some photos
- Rear CV boots have cracked and will need to be replaced - I have the replacement kit however have not have time to fit - this comes with the car and is a relatively easy job for a home mechanic or garage
