Just a bit of a photo dump since I haven't really done anything to the car.. as the old saying goes..

It's so easy to put these cars on the back burner and lose interest, but once you finally get it all sorted and you're driving it regularly you'll wish you sorted it sooner

What do you have to do on yours?

Too true, life gets in the way pretty easily huh. I took mine for a spin today and am definitely wondering why I haven't got to sorting it out properly!
Oh, the list is long. Rusty left side sill, leaky rear main seal, head gasket, dip stick leak, new cat back exhaust and many little cosmetic things. Oh, and eventually a full engine rebuild with the stroker bits I have had sitting around for 6 years

Attended Clacton classic car show a couple of Sundays ago and what an amazing turnout of classics!
There was a couple of E30s in there - did anyone from here attend?

So engine mount replacement No.3

A combination of the heavy M30 and the way I drive it
have killed another set of mounts.
I've opted for these mounts as I've been told they are significantly stronger then the M20 ones I've been using.
I guess time will tell..

You need goo engine mounts to stop the exhaust hitting the steering joint on hard left turns

Little dab of the throttle soon sorts that out again haha
I want to give it a bit of time before I give my verdict with these mounts but so far so good, I put the car through its paces (as I normally do lol) and they've been solid so far

Update time..
So I decided to do some winter / hibernation maintenance while the salt litters the roads, and get her ready for the spring / summer.
I started off with the Valve clearances. That typewriter under the bonnet needed a bit of attention as its been a while since I last adjusted them.
Still nice and fresh in there
While I was stripping her down I found a few boots / hoses which needed urgent attention.
A little delivery from Cotswold's soon sorted that. I still find it amazing that BMW still produce parts for a 35+ year old car!
I'm so glad they do!
Only thing I didn't get from Cotswold was the intake boot as it was £72 from there or £10.69 from Ali express
Was a no brainer especially after it arrived and I was surprised with how good it looked. May not last as long but I could technically get 6 for the price of 1 genuine one

I'll be honest every other car me and my mrs own have android auto and Bluetooth etc so when I jump in the E30 and have to use the annoying phone holder on the windscreen I felt like an upgrade was needed.
(Also I've still got my Sony so If I change my mind I can always put that back in) Also I finally got my hands on these bad boys! Looking forward to getting some tweeters and seeing the difference of being able to hear my music a bit better...even though I mostly listen to talk sport these days..my god I'm getting old

and thats about it for now.
Next on the list is to sort the exhaust out as I'm still not happy with how it sits and the tail pipes are a little too discreet for my likings but that can wait..
For now I will carry on missing driving her for a bit longer..

I bought an intake book for my car from Cotswold, it lasted less than a year before it split. Sadly I noticed too late and I doubt they'd have done anything about it anyway (no disrepect to them I'm just assuming).
I think a radio with a pop put screen is truely 90's mod. Very in period in that respect
What model is it?

Yea I couldn't justify spending the money on a genuine one when the patent one was so much cheaper and looks just as good

Thanks man I was in 2 minds about it but it's not a irreversible mod, if I don't like it I can always go back to the normal head unit.
It's a no name one I got from eBay mate

Nice little update from today's tinkering.
So started off in the engine bay and always felt like the airbox and AFM cover should've been black and silver to match the rest of the engine so: I then moved onto the clocks. Felt like a bit of a change was needed.
Before: After: Very happy with how it turned out!

I then moved onto fitting the tweeters and thought I was in luck with the wires already pre installed for me..
They weren't
Not actually sure what these wires are for..? Heated wing mirrors maybe? Anyone know?
I will just have to run some fresh wires when I get some more time so left it there for now..

Nice work on the engine bay and clocks!
They certainly look like speaker cables...

I thought they were too but nothing coming out of them with the stereo on.
Going to need to trace the wires and see what they are for

Yeah, OK thanks, though wishing it would warm up a bit!
Have you had a good look behind the stereo, or even centre console? Cables often get buried somewhere in there, often falling behind the heater controls, etc.

I didn't see any when fitting the stereo but I wasn't really looking. I'll have another look next time I'm out there.

They are cables for the tweeters, but the crossovers won't be present unless tweeters were specified when it was built.Speedtouch wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 9:11 pmNice work on the engine bay and clocks! They certainly look like speaker cables...

Thanks Ben, I'm guessing they weren't as no tweeters and pods were fitted.BenHar wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 5:58 pmThey are cables for the tweeters, but the crossovers won't be present unless tweeters were specified when it was built.Speedtouch wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 9:11 pmNice work on the engine bay and clocks! They certainly look like speaker cables...

The Tweeter speaker wires are usually connected down in the footwell near the kick panel speakers, I connected mine down their and used after market tweeters with the inline filters already connected.Cypriotgeeza wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:15 pmThanks Ben, I'm guessing they weren't as no tweeters and pods were fitted.BenHar wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 5:58 pmThey are cables for the tweeters, but the crossovers won't be present unless tweeters were specified when it was built.Speedtouch wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 9:11 pmNice work on the engine bay and clocks! They certainly look like speaker cables...

They are often not connected simply because people have run their own speaker wires down there and done away with the standard wiring, so just pick them up in the footwell.
Loving the air filter touch

Thanks mate! I'll get the speakers out and have a proper look next time I'm in the garage.fixedwheelnut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 11:02 pm

Any new updates on your beast or is it a case of "if it's not broke don't fix it?
