You’ve gotta laugh, or you’ll cry!!! Three weekends down and I’m still ‘cleaning’ the underside of the car, ready to re-do the under seal.

Haha I know the feeling. I think it took me about 3 months before I found the motivation to get back under it and steam clean the underside :D

I love those callipers though, they look really nice
Good to know I’m not the only lunatic who thought steamcleaners were wasted on bathrooms!! 😂
I’m really pleased with the look of the callipers, so glad I went with the correct plating rather than painted/powder coated.

loving this thread Bex, proper job.

it will almost be a shame to drive that car of yours...for fear of getting it dirty.
Thanks :) it’s taking FOREVER but it’ll be so worth it when he’s done!
Can’t wait! It’ll likely be the new year before that fateful MOT now but once he’s given the green light he’s going to be used as much as possible!

I did attack mine with a foam gun and a jet wash towards the end as it helps get it properly cleaned. The steam cleaner seems to shift the dirt around. I had a big clean up job after though but it wasn't too bad, just a lot of mopping

Thanks 👍 I’m going to use power clean to get the last of the dirt off. Few spots of surface rust to sort before ‘paint’, but REALLY pleased with the condition of the car, properly solid 👍👌🏻

Slow and stead but we’re getting there….

Hoping to have it stripped and ready to tackle the small spots of surface rust in the next week or two, temperate permitting!

Anyone got any advise on products they’re used to ‘redo’ the beige under seal? I’m looking into spray on seam sealer and also white under seal that I could then paint?

Speak to a company called Rejel, they're a Dinitrol agent. They're amazingly helpful and the Dinitrol products are brilliant.

May not have succeeded in getting Errol on the road this year but this Christmas present from my brother is certainly the motivation I need to keep going. Fully customised 1:43 model of my car in oem BMW paint none the less!!

The wheel was an eBay find :) the box sold it for me too!

I’m doing all the work (with my brothers help!) unless we don’t have the kit so blasting/powder coating etc…. Wish me luck!

Thank you VERY much, it’s good to know I’m doing the right thing by this car. It deserves it!
I hope to have him on the road for some fun this year (ideally the BMW meet at Bicester on August bank holiday Monday, but think that’s a tall order now)

I love the way you wait until all is correct before you install things.
How is the top ??
I use "Fabsil Gold" to protect it and it`s very good for at least two years at a time.

Next job, over coat underside and sort the fuel lines.
