Hi Guys,
After a bit of advice please as I've been researching this for ages and searched here and on the web high and low and still can't find a definitive answer to my question.....
Will a 3.64 or 3.91 differential from an E28 fit a E30 325i or not ???!!
I've read on the Wikipages here that as long as it's a 6 bolt back plate and not 8 is will do BUT I've just checked my differential and it's 100% got an 8 bolts holding the backplate on....
I'm in contact with two sellers saying if I swap the output flanges and back plate from mine it should be fine?!
Either I've mis-understood the information on the Wikipages and being thick or is this info wrong?! If you go to the Wiki sections on differentials on here it's written right in the last paragraph. I'm confused lol
Many thanks to all in advance

I think that bit of the wiki is badly written.

6 bolts in the back plate is a small case 168mm diff. 8 bolts in the back plate is a medium case 188mm diff. Both fit E30

If it is from an E28 you will have to change the back plate (obviously) for an e30 one and possibly change the output flanges for the ones from your E30 depending on what E30 you start with.

I have seen diffs listed for E28 that have an 8-bolt cover on the side of the diff (like an E12 diff) I doubt they will fit, may be what they were on about, not sure.

Thanks for the input mate, much appreciated.
That's exactly what I thought too. Maybe worth asking the powers that be to edit that particular paragraph on the Wikipages ?! I thought I was going mad! Haha
Yes, my 325 is a m20b25 from factory so has the medium case 188 diff.
Don't mind swapping bits over, easy enough to do. I just didn't want to go out and buy one, get it delivered etc and then realise it's not going to work! :x
Again thanks for the reply, you've put my mind at ease now lol
