Footman James covered mine on agreed value at £16k without seeing a photo, they checked the market and were happy to agree, salvage rights also should the worst happen. Now I wouldn't expect my car to sell for that but looking at a replacement from the classifieds its certainly what people are asking for comparable cars of similar age and condition so who knows.

I am with A-Plan.

They needed photos, but when I was oon the phone, I just typed '325i Sport' into eBay, said the cheapest (restored/not ruined) one was at £**k, and said 'how about £**k?', and they said 'sure', so that was pretty simple, and way more than I'd expected it to be worth based on the previous agreed value. Salvage rights etc too. (Underwritten by Markerstudy)

I am insured with Markerstudy via a broker, I was side swiped recently (not in an E30 thankfully) 100% 3rd party fault and they were completely useless at helping me out, the car was undriveable and they did nothing even though they initially said they would arrange a courtesy car, they made up some cock and bull story that because I said I didnt want to use their bodyship they wouldnt supply a car,,, they wanted me to pay them £500 excess which I knew I didnt have to, 3 days later after many phone calls and rants I gave up and called a claims management company. The car was written off and I had to pay salvage money, so even if you have "salvage rights" how does it work in this instance where its a non fault accident and another insurance company is coughing up the money?

I take you’re not recommending Markerstudy then! 😜

Interesting, sorry to hear you had such a rubbish experience wit them :(

I had a non-fault crash (in my E30), and Markerstudy were great in that instance (otherwise I'd not recommend them, as insurance is only as good as the claims process).

How did it work out? Did you let them repair it or was it a write off? Any excess paid?

Pretty well, actually!

I got some initial quotes locally of about £2.5k (from their suggested body shop), but the body shop had rubbish reviews, so I elected to take it elsewhere. I then got a price of about £5.5k or so to fix it (about 1/3 of it's agreed value at the time). As the cost had jumped so much, they offered me a cash settlement to avoid the costs rising, and the car getting a write off marker. I was happy with this choice, as the damage was:

- front bumper
- front wing
- curbed wheel x2
- bent wishbone

As I was (ironically) on the way to collect some new wishbones + B12 kit when the crash happened, I had all of the mechanical parts already, so I took their cash offer, got the body panels new from BMW and paid a body shop to spray it all up. No write off marker. I can't remember the excess. It was only £100 - I might have paid it and had it reimbursed, I'm not sure - it was a about 4 years ago now.

Would they be much use at valuing a modified car?
