Hello.

My (1990) drivers side headlight doesn’t seem to want to stand to attention. The vacuum has long gone and the mechanical screws don’t seem to do anything.

What’s the best bet? Some sort of refurb (if so where/who ca do this), or a good secondhand replacement?

Thanks

Kit

The rod coming out of the "vacuum" adjuster has a crosshead screw slot in the end connected to the light.
Remove the light, and screw the rod out a bit.
Then fine adjustment can be done with the knurled plastic nut on the "vacuum" adjuster.

Thanks.

Sounds easy enough, let’s hope it is.

I did wonder why this happens in the first place!

I can virtually guarantee that the manual adjusters will be rusted solid, you may need to do a strip down/refurb.

"Plus Gas" is very good for this but let them soak in it for as long as you can if you strip them down.

Thanks for the advice. About to head out and take them off to inspect. Wish me luck!

Sorted.

Once I got a good handle on the adjustment screws after removing the light they moved quite freely, no idea why the screws came loose in the first place but seems to be sorted now.

Try and get some grease on the threads as this will help in future.
