Hi,

So the, still all original, exhaust on my 2 door 318i m10 has started to blow with a pin hole in the centre section.

To me it doesn’t make sense to replace just one section on a 37 year old system and potentially damage the other, possibly delicate, sections in the process.

Cotswold BMW have quoted £757 for a complete system, which I’d then have to pay to have fitted.

A local (East Midlands) stainless exhaust specialist, who produces handmade, bespoke systems have quoted £816 to build and fit a compete system in high quality stainless.

Any thoughts or good suggestions?

The car is totally original and still only 32k on the clock, so do I go with an original steel system or for the same money go stainless steel? Or do you have any other exhaust specialists to suggest?

Thanks

There is no comparison .
If you are happy with the stainless route ,and are willing to part with such a price then a bespoke ,fitted deal is the only way to go
It should also have one Helllllllllllllllll of a guarantee :D :D
Nothing wrong with the OEM parts, but this time Mr Stainless and co is the winner for me.
(unless you are VERY OEM that is 8O )

Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.

To be honest Mart this is the route I’m heading towards I think. They do offer a transferable lifetime guarantee actually! By the time I’ve paid for the BMW steel system fitted the stainless one will be cheaper.

I do love a bit of OEM, but I’m not that fanatical about something only the MOT tester and the specialist that services it will see. Despite this I can’t bring myself to put a cheap shite pattern steel system on it either, that would be sacrilege!

Chav canon, the excessively loud, farting, popping, banging exhausts that seem to be bodged to the underside of every Fiesta ST, Corsa, Clio etc.
