Hi guys,

Looking for some recommendations for an all weather car cover (in UK). The car is in an open garage but I would still like a bit more protection.

1990 Saloon.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,

Alex

Have a look at the Halfords one. Yes yes I know Halfords but honestly it's great and better than the two £150 Stormforce covers I've had. Don't get me wrong they were initially good but the outer layer breaks down in UV light and peels off hence why I had two, the second was under guarantee within 12 months. The only downside with the Halfords one is it's a slightly reflective silver colour when new. It has 3 good strong under body straps to keep it secure.

Looks like they are currently on offer, Halfords all seasons car cover £54 to £67 depending on size.
I have a medium but feel it's slightly too big on my cabbie, would be interesting to see if the small is a better fit.

I got this one from Everycar covered in North Lincolnshire. Its just a half cover for use to keep the rain off it. I have to say it is excellent and fits the Bm perfectly. There are slots which fit the mirrors and you can secure these with laces or straps to stop the wind from blowing it off. The company were nice to deal with and wanted a photo of my car to show it fitted for their website. https://www.everycarcovered.com/

To be honest I have not found one that lasts more than a few years outside so I don't pay much. Generally get 3 winters and then move on.

'Good' ones don't seem to last any longer as the UV just breaks them down the same. They may last longer under an open car port.

I have used £30 ebay ones and they seem fine. Flocked inside seems easy on the paint (although I am not too worried on this one as it is going to be re-done I just need it waterproof.)

They are more long-term storage but if the car was used regularly one of those half covers above would do fine.

Agreed, my Halfords one is on its third winter. It's doing the job still perfectly but it does have that outdoor green mould on it which doesn't look great.
I had my car resprayed in 2016 and haven't had a mark or scratch from any cover with the flocked inner layer.
I do remove the cover on dry days at least every couple of weeks throughout winter weather permitting, I wouldn't consider an outdoor cover fit and forget for months on end.

Thanks all, it gets regular use so more for winter. I’ll check Halfords out!
