Help and advice needed
Ok so my car has been for its first mot in 12yrs and has failed which i expected,I know I need new tyres and some welding which I will have to get done by a mechanic but L bought this car to learn basic mechanics ect
service brake and parking brake will this sort its self if I change the pads
How do i sort the brake inbalance
and lastly the headlights I will look at these with a view to changing them if its not fixable
any advice for attempting these fixes would be great I am very new to all this !
also on the way back my speedo was bouncing all over which i have looked up and read its possible broken wire in to the rear diff does this sound right

The only thing that would bother me about that fail list is the corrosion to the lower A pillars, which I assume means the scuttle is toast.

This is an old car bud, it uses shoes for the hand brake. Does it have rear discs or drums?

How do i sort the brake inbalance

Will likely be linked to the above. If you find it does need new shoes then you need to adjust their position for the park brake.

lastly the headlights I will look at these with a view to changing them if its not fixable

The headlight adjusters are notoriously prone to rusting up and being nigh on unusable. So you may need to find some replacements to ensure easy adjustment.

As for the rest it sounds like the usual 'jacking points' (don't jack a car up there.... everrrrr). Not too much of a drama to fix. I would get that scuttlre repaired asap and have a good look at the firewall as I don't imagine it will be in the best shape if the bits you can see looke like that.

I'm sure you will but throw those tyres away and get new ones. If they are that old they're scrap anyway and having difference sized tyres on the rear will destroy the diff.
