Electric windows

I am in the process of getting my E30 roadworthy after a few years being laid up. One thing that worked when I put a new battery in was the electric windows. The sunroof didn’t.
Now the windows have stopped working. Fuse is fine. Not sure how to test the relay but there is no power at fuse 17 with the ignition on.
I’ve been messing about behind the dash and glovebox with the blower motor switch and resistor so wonder if I’ve disturbed something.
Circuit breaker next to gear stick works fine but there is no power getting to that either.
I tested engine earth and that seems to be ok.
Are there any other fuses or relays I need to find?
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Need to add, I have tried other relays in K5 but made no difference

Fixed it - relay was fine but connections needed cleaning.
Sunroof not working but there is a definite relay type click when the switch is pressed. Probably just needs connections cleaning as well

Updating as I go. Windows only work with the door open. Assume there are 2 circuits?

That means the positive side is OK as it is negative switched, check out the earth side of things.

All comments by me should be taken in the right sprite, Jack Daniels is fine.

Thank you
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but how would I check that’s earth?
Also have read that it could be due to bad connections where door wiring enters the cabin?

Door open uses fuse 30.

You need to work out why you have no power at fuse 17 (which does the windows and sunroof with the doors shut).

I’ve checked the K5 relay.
12v at 30 and 86.
Also at 85 which is fed from relay K7.
If I jump 30 to 87 the windows work with the doors closed and the ignition on.
Put the relay back in and it doesn’t work.
Have tried a few relays and no change.
So is this something to do with feed from K7?

Fuse 17 is fed from relay K5 but also goes through Connecter C302 which is behind the glovebox, hopefully this scan will work.

Looking at the wiring diagrams, power to C302 comes from fuse 17.
I don’t have any power at fuse 17 when the relay K5 is in - despite there being 12v at 30, 86 and 85.
Or am I misunderstanding?

Sorry misread that thought it was no power at switch. Pin 85 should be earth not live the black/green wire earths via the starter motor on it's own terminal, it also goes via pin 15 on connector C101 in the engine bay.
see the connection circled brown. and the top small connection in the starter image

Thank you - that certainly explains the symptoms.
My car has had an M50 dropped in so will need to check the C101 plug to ensure pin 15 has been correctly connected to the M50 loom.

Windows now working.
I was trying them with the ignition key in position 2 - ie without engine running or starter engaging. This must trigger the relay.
Once engine is running they work.
On to the next job…

It's good that they are working but it's not correct.
They should work without the engine running.

Update
The reason for both the windows and the blower not working or working sporadically, was a loose earth connection in the starter motor - ie where the K5 and K7 relays are earthed.
Think it’s ok now. Lots of other niggles still to sort.

We got there in the end, those relays earth via the starter so when the engine is cranking it switches the relays off, that way more battery power is available for cranking

Thanks for your help with it.
It wasn’t immediately obvious as the little wire on the top terminal of the starter was hidden and pushed into position by the thick starter solenoid wires. Once one of these was removed I could see the bad connection.
