hey guys so im news on this forum, im from montreal canada and i have stock 316i 1988 coupe zinnoberot
. Im looking to upgrade the suspension (shock and springs ) could you help find awnsers is the 316i are 51mm like the 325i no difference ? billsteins shocks h&r springs ? what do you recommand for the 316i ok thank you.

Welcome to the zone ,it’s properly not what you want to here,but In my opinion your car is sitting perfect, you would be better getting the black paint done on the lower seals,anyway nice car.

Welcome, the easy way to answer to your question is to measure the front strut diameter, its either 45mm or 51mm
From the photo it looks like your car has rear disc brakes, which would indicate it may have been built with ABS as an option when new and if so it could well have the 51mm front struts, but even so if you buy 325i suspension (springs especially) then you will end up with a higher than expected ride height because your 316i is a fair bit lighter!
You cant go wrong with Bilstein B4 and Eibach springs, H&R are great springs but they are a fair bit harder ride than Eibach and so even further away from original
