I've noticed a small wet patch directly beneath the join of the plastic cover of the heater , this isn't a regular occurrence I don't believe its the matrix ( no coolant just clear water) and if it isn't then could rain water enter the cabin via the vents beneath the windscreen then into the black plastic heater cover within the cabin?

Not sure if this is any help to you, but I had the same issue with a different car, it was a blocked rainwater drain. Basically, water will fill up to the heater hole and spill over into the cabin when driving. Could help if you check all draining holes in the engine bay.

Thanks for the reply, I've checked the elephant trunk etc and anything else, which may cause water ingress There has to be a seal somewhere . The water is a drip and not constant and only noticeable when the cars been standing. I'd love to put my carpet back in but its dried out now and I'm loathed to have to pull it out again

Sprinkle some talcum powder around to see if you can narrow the source down.

Hi Ben , I know where the waters entering the cabin, its dripping down from the plastic cover which envelops the heater core etc inside the car ( The matrix is brand new and its not coolant) . My query is how is it getting to that point from . Its not from any of the grommets on the firewall ( I've used talcum powder method to confirm )
Cheers
