Auto transmission torque converter leak

I am recommissioning my 325 convertible. It has an auto transmission leak, I believe from the torque conveyor seal. It leaks mainly when left standing for a few days. The longer it’s left then the more oil it drips
The fix itself is simple but I need to split the engine/box. While I am at it I’m changing the timing belt and also have the front exhaust pipe to replace. My preferred solution is to take the engine out and leave the box in place. Is there any view on this and advice.

Ideally you need to take the box out, you can get away leaving the box in for engine removal but it can still be awkward. However removing the Torque converter you really need the box out to be able to refit it.

Because of the shafts that go in to it you need the box standing upright on it's end so you can wiggle the Torque Converter around to drop on to each shaft as the teeth align.
